Pamela
Dalton's Scherenschnitte are
created in the tradition of
early American paper cutting
popular in the Pennsylvania
German regions of the early
19th century. All
designs are original though
influenced by the themes of
early cutting: biblical
motifs, and scenes from
rural life. Each piece
is sketched freehand by the
artist and cut by hand, so
no two are exactly alike.
Each is cut from a single
sheet of paper and framed in
a false grained frame.
Pamela's
work has illustrated several
books and has been seen in
numerous publications,
including Country Living and
Early American Life.
In 1999, one of her
Scherenschnitte adorned the
White House Christmas Tree.
